Founded by Walter Beech and his wife Olive Ann Beech in 1932, Beechcraft is an American manufacturer of general aviation and military aircraft. The Beechcraft Corporation aircraft range from light single-engined aircraft to twin-engined turboprop transports, and military trainers. Since 2014 Beechcraft has become part of the Textron Aviation brand, a division of Raytheon and a brand of Hawker Beechcraft.
The first Beechcraft, the Model 17, was originally designed for the business traveler but due to it's high speeds gained military interest resulting in some 7,400 Beechcraft airplanes used by the United States and Allies during World War II. Since then Beechcraft have continued to develop and produce aircraft, both civilian and military.
